Non-Layering Knit Profile

  • All Knit Profiles use the “+” system to indicate the amount of garment ease added to the finished Knit.
  • For all Knit Profiles T.A.P.E™ automatically shortens the finished long sleeve length 1” from the client’s core measurement sleeve length.
  • Short Sleeve length and Knit Length are shortened 1”-3” from a Client’s core measurement based on his preference choice.
  • While Polo Knits are meant to fit similarly to Custom Shirts, a knit product profile will add less garment ease because a knit fabrication has more stretch than a woven dress shirt fabrication.
  • As a result, the T.A.P.E™ recommendation for Knits (Non-Layering) based on the same preference is 1” smaller than Dress shirts. For example, the Standard Fit Dress Shirt recommendation is +4 and the Standard Fit Knit recommendation is +3.

The following is a list of some Knit styles which typically utilize a Non- Layering Product Profile.

  • Polo shirts, short or long sleeved
  • Tee shirts
  • Henley’s
  • Split Front Polo shirts
  • Mock Neck Zip, worn as a fitted base layer

Layering

  • A Layering Knit Product Profile has several differences from a Non-Layering Profile recommended to properly adjust your client’s fit for a layering knit.
  • T.A.P.E.™ will increase the garment ease recommendation by 1” on chest waist and hip
  • The Finished Waist and Hip recommendation will always be within 2” of each other. This recommendation creates the correct, straighter shape for Layered Knit.
  • T.A.P.E.™ automatically shortens the core measurement shirt length 3” to achieve a correct Layered Knit length ending below the client’s waistband.
  • The Standard Sleeve Recommendation for a Layering Knit is Fitted

As with Non-Layering the Layering Knit Profile allows you to create a unique layering style for your client. The Layering Knit Profile is required for some styles but can also be used for Polos or Tees to create a sweater replacement.

  • Hoodie Zip
  • Hoodie Pull over
  • Mock Neck Half Zips
  • Mock Neck Full Zip
  • Long Sleeve Tees to create a sweater replacement
